Vivo's New Android Skin: A Fun Twist to Lock Screen Customization

Mobile

I've noticed that Android phone makers are focusing on lock screen customization again, and Vivo is definitely part of this trend. Their new Android skin has a lock screen feature I wish other brands would adopt. It's all about adding a little personality and dynamism to your daily phone usage.

The upcoming Origin OS 6 from Vivo introduces a "Flip Card" lock screen wallpaper. With this, you can choose a set of wallpapers that you can cycle through just by tilting your phone. It’s a simple but cool way to refresh your phone's look without having to dig into settings.

You can include two to four wallpapers in each Flip Card setup and pick from four transition animations. I particularly like that you can pause the animation midway. Vivo also lets you easily rearrange the order of the images, so you can set a specific wallpaper as the main image or put them in your preferred sequence. While it's not a groundbreaking feature, it adds a touch of fun to the lock screen.

It's a great solution for those who have trouble choosing a single background. I think it would be amazing to see this feature expanded to the home screen as well. Imagine being able to flip through different layouts and widgets with a simple tilt. However, it might also make the home screen a bit cluttered and could potentially drain the battery faster.

Xiaomi also offers interesting wallpaper tricks. Earlier this year, they introduced an AI Dynamic Wallpaper feature, which uses artificial intelligence to add movement to your wallpapers. For instance, a photo of the ocean would have rippling waves, which makes your screen more interesting to look at.

The OriginOS 6 beta is currently available for global users, specifically for the X200 Pro and the Iqoo 13. If you're eager to try out the Flip Cards feature, you can download the beta and give it a shot. It is a good idea to be careful before downloading beta versions. I've tried some in the past and got some very annoying bugs.
