ViWoods Launches AiPaper Reader C: First Android 16 Color E-Reader
Just a short while after the buzz around ViWoods' ambitious AiPaper Reader – you know, the one running on Android 16 – the company's already expanding its lineup. I think it's pretty bold, and now they're adding a splash of color to the mix.
The AiPaper Reader C is the new kid on the block, and it's trading that crisp monochrome screen for a color E Ink display. More and more e-readers are getting colorful makeovers and I think that this is a trendy move.
If you're someone who regularly dives into comics, illustrated books, or even those PDFs packed with charts and diagrams, then the move to color might be a game-changer for you. Okay, so color E Ink isn't going to blast you with the same vibrancy as an LCD screen, but it adds a whole new layer of context that grayscale just can't capture. However, do keep in mind that a color E Ink panel might mean that text and those super-fine lines won't look quite as sharp as they do on the monochrome AiPaper Reader.
When it comes to hardware, ViWoods is keeping things pretty consistent. I mean, the 6.13-inch Reader C is just as thin (6.7mm) and light (138g) as the original, which is great for carrying around. It's also packing the same core components: 4GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and even optional 4G connectivity. And yes, it's still running on Android 16!
Just like the original AiPaper Reader, this color model supports those data-only SIM cards for 4G use. This means you can sync your books, download apps, or even use those AI tools without needing to hunt down a Wi-Fi hotspot. I think that's pretty cool since it's something you usually only see on a few specialized devices. Also, the Reader C has that same built-in AI button for on-page assistance.
Let's be real – the AiPaper Reader C isn't necessarily a straight-up upgrade; it's more of a trade-off. If you're looking for versatility, then I think you'll appreciate it. However, if you're a purist, you might be wondering if the color is really worth potentially sacrificing a bit of clarity.
Either way, ViWoods is clearly serious about making a name for itself in the e-reader world, and the AiPaper Reader C is just another step in that direction. The AiPaper Reader C will cost you $349.
