Realme's Concept Phone Boasts a Whopping 15,000mAh Battery
Hey, mobile tech enthusiasts! I stumbled upon something pretty wild from Realme – a concept phone packing a massive 15,000mAh battery. We're talking about a battery that could potentially last you almost a week on a single charge!
It is true that we've seen some phones with beefy batteries lately, especially in the rugged category. These phones have big batteries, but end up being quite bulky. Realme claims they've managed to cram all that power into a surprisingly slim design. They're saying it's only 8.89mm thick, which is only a hair thicker than some of the flagships out there.
To give you an idea of just how big this battery is, Realme claims it's almost equal to the combined battery capacity of several iPhones. They say you could even use it to reverse-charge a drone or power a small fridge. The company is estimating up to five days of typical use, 50 hours of video playback, or 30 hours of gaming. I'm curious to see if these numbers reflect real-world performance.
There's a catch. Realme is using a 100% silicon-anode battery in this concept phone. Currently, most silicon-carbon batteries only use a small amount of silicon. While this allows for some capacity increase, batteries with high silicon content are susceptible to swelling and faster degradation. It seems like this prototype is more of a proof-of-concept.
For now, it seems like this massive battery phone is more of a tech demo than an actual product we'll see on shelves soon. Even if we don't see this exact phone come to fruition, it's exciting to see companies pushing the boundaries of what's possible with battery technology.
