Quick Share Gets a Fresh Look on Windows

I've always found Quick Share incredibly handy for zipping files between my Android phone and other devices. It's not just for phones; it works on tablets, Chromebooks, and even Windows PCs. I was excited to hear that Google's rolling out a UI refresh for the PC version, and honestly, it's about time!

My colleague noticed the updated Quick Share UI for Windows, and the most noticeable change is the settings menu. It's now got this Expressive-style look, which, from what I understand, means settings are grouped in boxes, making everything easier to find. It’s a small thing, but those little tweaks can make a big difference in how pleasant an app is to use.

The sharing section on the left side of the main menu has also been simplified. It now features a header asking “who can share with you.” This should makes the entire process more intuitive. The update comes with version 1.0.2351.1 of Quick Share for Windows. However, I’m running this version but still haven’t received the redesigned interface.

It seems like Google is doing a staggered release, so some users might have to wait a bit longer. It reminds me of when they roll out Android updates; it never happens for everyone at once, does it?

This Windows redesign comes after Google revamped Quick Share for Android a few months back, which introduced separate screens for sending and receiving. However, the Windows app doesn’t take this tabbed approach, which is interesting. Maybe they're trying to keep the Windows version a bit simpler, or perhaps they have other plans for future updates. I hope it gets to me soon!
