So, Google's making a move – they're phasing out their standalone Weather app on newer Wear OS smartwatches. It sounds like a bummer if you're rocking a Pixel Watch, but hold on! It seems they're cooking up a Pixel Weather app specifically for Wear OS.

Think of it as a sleeker, more integrated way to get your weather updates. A lucky Reddit user who got their hands on the Pixel Watch 4 early shared the Pixel Weather APK. Someone then installed it on a Galaxy Watch running Wear OS 6, providing screenshots of the app in action.

From what I’ve seen, the new Pixel Weather app boasts a Material 3 Expressive design. You'll have access to current conditions, hourly and daily forecasts, air quality index (AQI), sunrise/sunset times, and even precipitation details. Plus, you can customize your temperature and precipitation units, which is a nice touch. There are even tiles for UV information and sunset times. As someone who likes to keep an eye on the weather, I think it's a good thing.

The Pixel Watch 4 is expected to hit shelves around October 9, 2025. We anticipate the Pixel Weather app to become available around the same time. While it might be exclusive to Pixel Watch owners, there's a chance you could sideload the APK on other Wear OS 6 smartwatches, which is an option for those who are interested. I think it's a good move for google.
