OnePlus 15: First Official Look at Design and Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Chipset
It seems like the race to launch the first phone with the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is heating up! Qualcomm is moving its Snapdragon Summit forward, and phone makers are eager to show off what they've been working on. OnePlus is among them, and they've just given us our first official look at the upcoming OnePlus 15.
At a Qualcomm event in China, a OnePlus representative highlighted the OnePlus 15. The main focus was on performance, confirming the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 will indeed be the powerhouse inside the phone. However, OnePlus also hinted at another phone coming soon, this one with a slightly less powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 (non-Elite) chipset.
The design of the OnePlus 15 appears to match the leaks we saw recently. Instead of the circular camera bump from the OnePlus 13, it's sporting a square camera module. The representative showed off the phone in black, a color that leaked some time ago.
While we only got a quick peek at the front, it's clear the OnePlus 15 will have slim bezels and a hole-punch camera. Furthermore, OnePlus confirmed on Weibo that the phone will feature an upgraded display with a 165Hz refresh rate. Some rumors point to a slightly lower 1.5K resolution for the AMOLED panel.
Since this reveal happened in China, it's possible the global version of the OnePlus 15 might have some differences. However, I think it's unlikely. We also know the Chinese version will run OPPO's ColorOS 16 based on Android 16, which should be announced soon.
