Nubia Fold Has a HUGE Battery! The Biggest I've Ever Seen on a Foldable
I've been keeping an eye on the foldable phone market, and it's really heating up! We're seeing more and more manufacturers jump into the game, each trying to one-up the competition with innovative features and designs. Nubia, a brand I've been watching for a while, has just thrown its hat into the ring with its first foldable device: the Nubia Fold.
What immediately caught my attention is the sheer size of the battery. We're talking about a massive 6,560mAh cell! That's the biggest I've ever seen in a foldable. When I compare it to other foldable on the market, like the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which has a 4,400mAh battery, it's clear that Nubia is prioritizing battery life.
Of course, battery isn't everything. So, let's dig into the other specs. The Nubia Fold boasts an 8-inch folding OLED screen and a 6.5-inch cover display, both delivering crisp visuals. Under the hood, it's powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. This is a setup that I'd expect to handle pretty much anything you throw at it. The charging speed is also decent, with 55W wired charging allowing a full charge in about 70 minutes.
However, the camera system is something that isn't making me too excited, it comes with a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultrawide lens, and a 5MP macro sensor. You'll also find a 20MP selfie camera on each screen, which is nice. But, honestly, I was expecting more.
It also has an IP54 rating, which means it's protected against dust and splashes. It's not fully waterproof, so I wouldn't recommend taking it for a swim. But, given that the Pixel 10 Pro Fold already has an IP68 rating, I was expecting a bit more.
Other features I found interesting include a side fingerprint scanner, Bluetooth 6.0, Wi-Fi 7, and some AI-powered features. AI features like translation and call assistant, could be a genuinely useful addition.
For now, the Nubia Fold is exclusively available in Japan, priced around $1,153 for the 12GB/256GB model. It's unclear if Nubia plans to release the phone in other countries, but I'm eager to see it make its way to global markets. I think it has the potential to be a strong contender in the foldable space, especially if the battery life lives up to the hype.
