Moto Edge 70: Motorola's Slim Design Meets Impressive Battery and Fast Charging

The buzz around thin and light smartphones is growing, with companies like Samsung and Apple already showcasing their contenders. I'm talking about the Galaxy S25 Edge and the iPhone Air. While sleek designs are captivating, a common concern is the reduced battery life due to the smaller space for the battery.

What if we could have a phone that is both thin and has a reasonable battery? That's where Motorola might just surprise us with the upcoming Moto Edge 70. While the name isn't officially confirmed, the rumors are certainly gathering steam.

Motorola has dropped hints about a new, slim phone for the global market, likely to be the same as the Moto X70 Air already teased for China. The real kicker is the purported 4,800mAh battery packed inside. At first glance, that might not seem massive, but consider this: the phone is rumored to be under 6mm thick! To put that in perspective, the Galaxy S25 Edge (5.8mm) has a 3,900mAh battery, and the iPhone Air (5.6mm) only has a 3,149mAh one. If the rumors are true, this could translate to significantly better battery performance throughout the day.

Beyond battery life, Motorola is also boasting 68W fast charging. If you do run low, a quick charge should get you back in action. Compare that to the Galaxy S25 Edge's 25W, and it's a clear advantage. I think that this is great. I'm eager to see how it performs in real-world scenarios.

Rumors are floating around about other features, too, including a 50MP primary rear camera with OIS, along with a wide 120° field of view. Color options are said to include Pantone Lily Pad, Pantone Gadget Gray, and Pantone Bronze Green.

Motorola plans to reveal more details weekly, with a European launch slated for November 5th. The China launch is expected sooner. I, for one, am very curious to see how the Edge 70 will impact the market for thin and light smartphones.
