iPhone 17: Pro and Air Models May Get More RAM!

Mobile Technology

Rumors are swirling about the iPhone 17 lineup, and it looks like Apple might be boosting the RAM in some of its models. While the current iPhone 16 series all boast 8GB of RAM, whispers from the supply chain suggest that the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max could be getting a significant upgrade.

If the reports are true, we could see the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max sporting 12GB of RAM. That's a 50% increase! This could translate to smoother multitasking, better gaming performance, and overall a more future-proofed device, especially as Apple continues to integrate more AI and machine learning features.

Interestingly, it seems Apple is also planning to bring 12GB of RAM to a non-Pro model for the first time. The rumored iPhone 17 Air, which is expected to replace the Plus model, might also get this memory bump. However, the standard iPhone 17 is likely to stick with 8GB of RAM.

Now, Apple never officially advertises the amount of RAM in its iPhones, but this difference in memory could be a strategic move to further separate the performance of the entry-level models from the premium ones. I think that's a clever strategy to entice users to upgrade to the Pro versions if they want the best possible performance.

Keep in mind that these are just rumors and leaks at this point. The actual RAM configurations won't be confirmed until the iPhone 17 is released and someone tears it down to see what's inside. Speaking of release, if Apple sticks to its usual schedule, we can expect the iPhone 17 series to launch around mid-September. So, stay tuned for more updates!
