iOS 26 Beta 6: Discover the Latest Changes and Improvements

Mobile Software

With Apple's big September event just around the corner, the pressure is on to finalize iOS 26. The latest beta, version 6, has just dropped, and it's packed with tweaks.

The first thing I noticed were the new ringtones. They've added a bunch of variations on the "Reflection" tone, like "Buoyant" and "Tech," plus a completely new one called "Little Bird." It's always nice to have more options to personalize your phone.

Apple seems to be doubling down on the Liquid Glass effect. Toggles now have this cool visual flair when you tap them, and the Lock Screen clock has become more translucent, giving it a frosted look. It's a subtle change, but it adds a nice touch of polish.

They've also been tinkering with app navigation, making the bars more translucent without sacrificing readability. And the app opening and closing animations? They're noticeably faster, with a slight bounce that mirrors the Lock Screen and Control Center. It makes the whole experience feel snappier.

However... One thing that caught my eye is the change in the Camera app. The toggle for "Classic Mode," which reversed the scrolling direction, is gone. Now, Classic Mode is the default, and you can't switch back. Not sure how I feel about that – choice is usually a good thing.

When you first update to iOS 26, you'll be greeted with an introductory video highlighting the Liquid Glass design changes. It's a nice way to get users up to speed on the new look and feel.

Finally, the Preview app has gotten a facelift. The buttons for creating and scanning documents are larger, and the scanning buttons have been moved to the bottom of the screen. It's a more streamlined layout, which should make the app easier to use.
