Honor's Foldable Phone Battery Upgrade

Honor

The forthcoming Honor Magic V5 foldable phone is generating considerable excitement, primarily due to rumors suggesting a substantial battery capacity upgrade. While its predecessor, the Magic V3, offered a respectable battery life, the upcoming model promises a significant leap forward.

Certifications from MIIT and 3C regulatory bodies have revealed details hinting at a massive 5,950mAh battery. This dual-cell configuration, comprising 2,070mAh and 3,880mAh cells, is expected to be marketed as a 6,000mAh battery upon release.

Design and Dimensions

Whether Honor will further reduce the phone's thickness remains uncertain. The Magic V3, already impressively slim at 9.2mm when folded, set a high benchmark. However, the current trend in the mobile industry favors ultra-thin designs, making a thinner Magic V5 a distinct possibility.

Charging Capabilities

Despite the anticipated larger battery, the charging speed might not see a corresponding increase. Regulatory listings indicate the retention of 66W charging, identical to the Magic V3. This decision may reflect a balance between battery longevity and rapid charging capabilities.

Release Timeline and Naming

The device's official name is yet to be confirmed; it could be either the Magic V4 or Magic V5. However, given cultural considerations in China, the company may choose to skip the number four, leading to a higher likelihood of a Magic V5 launch.

A July release, mirroring the launch schedule of its predecessors, is anticipated. The possibility of an earlier preview remains open.
