HONOR Magic V Flip 2

Honor Magic V Flip 2: Massive Battery Could Redefine Flip Phone Endurance

Mobile Technology

I've been keeping a close eye on the foldable phone market, and it seems like HONOR is about to shake things up. According to recent leaks, the upcoming HONOR Magic V Flip 2 could feature a massive 5,500mAh battery. To give you some perspective, that's larger than the battery expected in some of the biggest flagship phones of the year, like the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL.

Now, I know what you might be thinking: "A bigger battery means a bulkier phone, right?" Well, we'll have to wait and see how HONOR manages the design, but if they can pull it off, it would be a game-changer. Imagine a Flip phone that can actually last you through a full day of heavy use without needing a recharge. That's a dream for many of us who are constantly on the go.

For comparison, the current Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 already offers a decent 4,300mAh battery, which is a welcome improvement. However, HONOR's rumored 5,500mAh battery would leave it in the dust. It seems HONOR is really trying to win the battery life crown.

And it's not just about battery size, the Magic V Flip 2 is also rumored to come with an 80W charger. Which means you won’t be tethered to an outlet for hours. From what I've gathered, you'll be able to top up the battery pretty quickly. So even if you do manage to drain that massive battery, you can get back up and running in no time.

If you ask me, there's one potential downside that is making me a little nervous. The original HONOR Magic V Flip never made it outside of China, and so I am not getting my hopes too high for the sequel to come to west. But, you never know, perhaps HONOR will decide to surprise us this time and launch the Magic V Flip 2 globally.
