Galaxy Watch Ultra (2024) Owners Rejoice: Surprise Wear OS 6 Update Arrives!

Mobile

I've got some exciting news for those of you rocking the Galaxy Watch Ultra (2024)! It looks like Samsung is ahead of schedule, and the Wear OS 6 update is already rolling out to older models. If you remember, when the new Watch Ultra (2025) was unveiled, Samsung mentioned that the update for the older version would arrive either later this year or early next year. Color me surprised, but it's here now!

It's always frustrating when companies create artificial exclusivity, so users are pushed to buy the latest model. So, I think it's great to see Samsung deliver this update so soon. This is specially relevant, because there aren’t any real spec differences between the older and the newer Watch Ultra.

Reddit users have confirmed that the One UI 8 Watch update, based on Wear OS 6, is hitting their 2024 Galaxy Watch Ultra devices. The update is about 1.9GB and has been reported on models using T-Mobile, AT&T, and even Google Fi in the US. I even saw reports from users in Thailand, which is interesting because I haven't spotted anything for the UK just yet.

However, don't worry if you haven't received it yet. It seems to be a staged rollout. That means Samsung is gradually releasing the update to different regions and users. Therefore, you should get it sometime this week.

While there's no word yet on when older Galaxy Watch models, like the Watch 7 series and earlier, will get the update. The beta program is already in motion for the Galaxy Watch 7, so hopefully, it will be available soon!
