Galaxy S26 Ultra: Leaks Point to a Design Shift with Rounded Corners
I've been following the rumors around Samsung's Galaxy S26 series, and it seems like we're in for some changes. Initially, there was talk about a Galaxy S26 Edge, but now it looks like Samsung is sticking with the three flagship models we're used to. However, there's a slight delay in the timeline, possibly pushing the Unpacked event to February 25, 2026, in San Francisco.
Now, a recent leak from Universe Ice on X shows screen protectors that supposedly fit the Galaxy S26, S26 Plus, and S26 Ultra. The protectors for the S26 and S26 Plus look pretty standard, with the usual size difference and slightly rounded corners. But what caught my eye was the S26 Ultra's protector. It also features softer corners, which lines up with previous rumors suggesting Samsung is moving away from the sharp, boxy design of the Ultra in favor of something more ergonomic.
The design change on the S26 Ultra is interesting. For years, the Ultra has stood out with its distinct, angular form factor. If Samsung is indeed softening those edges, it suggests they're prioritizing comfort and ease of use. I think a more rounded design could make the phone feel better in hand, especially for those who find the current Ultra a bit unwieldy. It's a trade-off, though; the boxy design gave the Ultra a certain premium, almost industrial aesthetic.
All three screen protectors are flat, indicating that the phones will keep their flat displays. This isn't a huge surprise, as flat screens have become increasingly popular. While curved displays had their moment, many people find flat screens more practical for everyday use, especially when it comes to screen protectors and edge gestures.
Of course, we're still waiting for official confirmation from Samsung. With the launch pushed back, the teaser campaign will likely start later than usual. However, these leaks give us a pretty good idea of what to expect, particularly when it comes to the Galaxy S26 Ultra's design.
