I've been following the buzz around the upcoming Galaxy S26, and it looks like Samsung is starting to ramp up the hype machine. They've dropped a few teaser videos that give us a sneak peek at what they're focusing on this time around. If rumors are to be believed, we might see the official launch as early as February 25th, so the timing of these teasers makes perfect sense.

The first video immediately caught my eye because it shows someone using the phone to zoom in on their pet dog. What's really interesting is how far they zoom – it looks like it's way beyond the 5x or 10x zoom we're used to seeing. This strongly suggests that Samsung is working on improving their camera zoom capabilities. However, there's a little disclaimer that says the background in the photo is AI-generated. This makes me wonder just how much of the zoom quality is due to hardware and how much is being enhanced by software.

Rumors are floating around that the Galaxy S26 Ultra might stick with a 50MP 5x periscope camera, but with a wider aperture. On the other hand, there are conflicting reports about the base Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus, with some saying they'll have a 10MP 3x telephoto camera, while others suggest a 12MP one. If the cheaper models do end up with less impressive hardware, Samsung will probably have to rely on software and the new processors to make the zoom feature shine.

The other two videos focus on low-light video capture, something Samsung is clearly trying to improve. One video shows a DJ dancing in a dimly lit club, and the description says the phones can "light up your night". The second shows a woman twirling fireworks. The important thing is that it looks dark, and it films bright. Samsung has used the "Nightography" branding on previous phones, so it is probably a safe bet that it will be integrated in the Galaxy S26.

It's clear that Samsung is making a big push to improve low-light video and zoom capabilities in the Galaxy S26 series. And according to leaks, the new phones will have better video because of the APV codec. I'm curious to see how this new codec will improve the video quality and overall experience. There is also rumors of S26 Ultra using a 200MP main camera with a wider aperture.

Aside from the camera improvements, I've also heard about some other interesting features that might be coming to the Galaxy S26 series. One of them is scam detection, which could be a real lifesaver in today's world. Another is support for the Linux Terminal, which would be great for developers and power users. And the Ultra model might even have a 10-bit display, which would make the colors look even more vibrant and accurate. It will be interesting to see what features actually make the final cut.
