Galaxy S26 Series: Faster Wireless Charging on the Horizon
For a while now, Samsung has been under fire for sticking with slower charging speeds on its flagship phones. I mean, when you see other brands pushing the limits, it makes you wonder what's going on behind the scenes, right? But it looks like things might finally be changing with the upcoming Galaxy S26 series.
I stumbled upon some interesting news: there's talk about "Super Fast Charging 3.0." It seems to line up with those rumors of a 60W PPS charging system potentially heading to the Galaxy S26 Ultra. However, it's not just about wired charging; Samsung's also been tinkering with wireless charging, and from what I've seen, there are some hints about that, too.
In the current versions of Samsung's One UI 8, there are references to wireless charging. You know, the usual "fast wireless charging" notification that pops up when you're using a 15W wireless charger? Or the regular "wireless charging" message for those slower 5-10W chargers? Well, it seems like they're adding a third notification in the One UI 8.5 build: "Super fast wireless charging."
Interestingly, unlike the wired charging, there's no version number attached to this one. The Galaxy S20 series was the first to bring 15W wireless charging to the table. Since then, we have been stuck with the same speeds. Competitors have been blasting past with 50W-80W wireless charging solutions.
Rumor has it that the Galaxy S26 lineup could finally give us faster wireless charging. The standard S26 and the S26 Plus models might jump from 15W to 20W, while the S26 Ultra could go all the way up to 25W. If this is true, wireless charging times could be reduced by around 40%. I'm curious to see which speed gets the "Super fast wireless charging" title.
