For those of us who enjoy emulating games, things can get messy pretty quickly. Managing several emulators for different systems isn't fun. That's why I'm a big fan of having a good emulation frontend. Today, ES-DE is getting an update with some helpful new features, adding Android support for more systems.

ES-DE 3.4.0 arrived today, and it includes a lot. The update brings system support for Sony PlayStation 3, Valve Steam, and the Epic Games Store to Android, which is great. Plus, ES-DE is taking a page from Steam's book by adding its own time tracker, which shows you which games you spend the most time playing.

If you have a Samsung device, you can now use DeX with ES-DE, but you'll need OneUI 8. Also, if you have a dual-screen Android device, you're getting better support, so you can start playing games on whichever screen you want.

Since PS2 emulation on Android got some love last month with ARMSX2, you can now pick that as your emulator within ES-DE. There's also way better language support, compatibility with more media types, and more. The splash screen has been updated, dropping the "EmulationStation Desktop Edition" name, which makes sense since it's not just for desktops anymore.

Keep in mind that the Android version of ES-DE isn't free, but it's worth it if you're serious about retro gaming. If that's you, give this new version a shot and check out all the new stuff. I think you'll find it worth the money.
