CMF Phone 2 Pro: New Telephoto Lens and Modular Camera System
Nothing has expanded its product line with the introduction of the CMF Phone 2 Pro. This new device builds upon the foundation laid by its predecessor, the CMF Phone 1, offering enhanced specifications and features at a competitive price point.
Camera System Overhaul
The "Pro" designation in the CMF Phone 2 Pro's name signals a significant upgrade to its camera system. The device incorporates an 8MP ultrawide lens and a 50MP telephoto lens, a notable addition in this price range. The inclusion of a telephoto lens sets it apart from competitors, offering users enhanced zoom capabilities. This camera configuration bears similarities to that of the Nothing Phone 3a, with the primary difference being a slightly less advanced telephoto lens. The front-facing camera is a 16MP sensor, representing a modest improvement over the CMF Phone 1.
Modular Design and Expandability
The CMF Phone 2 Pro features a modular camera system, allowing users to attach external lenses. Screws on the back of the phone can be removed to attach a back cover (sold separately) that supports attachable camera lenses. Currently, fisheye and macro lenses are available, with the possibility of future additions. The back cover accessory also supports a wallet/stand attachment.
Performance and Display
The device is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro processor, a slight upgrade over the chip found in the CMF Phone 1. The phone also features a 6.77-inch FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The touch sampling rate has been significantly increased to 1,000Hz, which is a benefit to gamers. Durability has also been improved, with the CMF Phone 2 Pro earning an IP54 rating.
Additional Features
The CMF Phone 2 Pro includes the Essential Key, first introduced on the Nothing Phone 3a series, which activates the AI-powered Essential Space app. It houses a 5,000mAh battery and supports 33W wired charging. Notably, the CMF Phone 2 Pro addresses a previous shortcoming by including NFC support.
Color Options and Availability
The CMF Phone 2 Pro is available in multiple colors, each with a unique design. The Black and Light Green models have plastic backs with a glass-like texture, while the White model features a two-tone design with a sandstone finish. The Orange model also has a two-tone back with a metallic sheen. The CMF Phone 2 Pro is available with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage (expandable by up to 2TB with a microSD card) .
CMF Earbuds Introduction
Alongside the CMF Phone 2 Pro, Nothing is launching three sets of CMF-branded earbuds, all priced under $70. These earbuds feature varying levels of active noise canceling (ANC).
