Even though Apple had a busy September and October with new releases, it looks like they aren't slowing down as we head into November 2025. I'm hearing about potential updates to software and hardware, and the iPhone 18 is already causing a stir. Let's check out what's being discussed.

Software Updates Incoming

It seems like iOS 26.1, macOS Tahoe 26.1, and their related updates are just around the corner. Apple has released candidate versions, which usually means the public release is imminent. iOS 26.1 includes some interesting tweaks, like the option to adjust the opaqueness of the new Liquid Glass design. When I tested it, changing between the Clear and Tinted settings, or other accessibility options that affect the Liquid Glass appearance, didn't make a noticeable difference in battery life. So, it seems like you can customize it without worrying too much about power consumption.

iPhone 18: 5G Satellite and Camera Upgrades?

For a while now, Apple has been adding satellite features to its iPhones and Apple Watches, but they've been limited to basic things like messaging. However, according to a recent report, this could change. It's suggested that Apple is working on adding full 5G satellite internet access, possibly as early as next year for the iPhone 18 Pro models. Can you imagine having internet access virtually anywhere? That could be a game-changer.

There are other iPhone 18 whispers too. I'm hearing about a possible simplified Camera Control design, and even a DSLR-style variable aperture for the main camera on the Pro models. Plus, the base iPhone 18 might get a 50% memory bump to 12GB, bringing it in line with the higher-end models.

Apple TV and Maps: What's Next?

Don't forget about the Apple TV 4K. Apple is reportedly working on an updated version, and it could arrive in the next couple of months. While it's not expected to be a complete redesign, even a simple chip upgrade would significantly improve its performance. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for this one!

And I'm also hearing that Apple Maps might feature integrated ads as early as next year. I think this could be useful if implemented well, for example, allowing restaurants to highlight their listings in search results. However, it could get annoying if ads become too intrusive.

OLED Across the Board

Apple's plans for OLED displays are apparently more extensive than previously thought. While we knew they were working on bringing OLED to the MacBook Pro, rumors are now suggesting that the iPad mini could get an OLED display as early as next year, with the iPad Air following in 2027. The iPad Pro already received the OLED treatment last year. For Mac users, the MacBook Air is expected to get an OLED upgrade eventually, but probably not until 2028 at the earliest.

With Apple constantly refining its products, it's always exciting to see what's on the horizon. I'll be keeping a close eye on all these rumors and updates, and I'll let you know as soon as I hear anything concrete.
