With the upcoming iOS 26, Apple is making a big play for mobile gaming. They're introducing a dedicated Games app designed to be a central hub for all things gaming on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Think of it as an expanded version of the Games tab you already see in the App Store. It's not going away, it's getting an upgrade!

What to Expect

The Games app is broken down into several key areas. The Home tab acts as your personal gaming dashboard. It will feature a "Continue Playing" section, so you can jump right back into your last game with a single tap. I think it's very practical.

Beyond that, expect to see curated content like game recommendations, friend achievement updates, and highlights of the Games app features. The Home tab is designed to adapt to your gaming habits, offering suggestions based on what you've been playing.

For those who subscribe to Apple Arcade, there's a dedicated tab showcasing the service's offerings. You'll find gaming recommendations. Another great feature of the app is event discovery, so it's easier than ever to stay up-to-date.

The Library tab will also give you a comprehensive overview of all the games you've played across your Apple devices, as well as your achievements.

Playing Together

The Games app is taking social gaming to the next level. The "Play Together" tab lets you see what games your friends are playing and suggests multiplayer titles you can enjoy together. However, you must be running on the lastest OS.

One of the coolest new features is "Challenges." These are asynchronous competitions that let you compete against friends in single-player games.
