Apple to Possibly Skip iPhone 19, Launching iPhone 20 in 2027
Alright, buckle up because the future of iPhones is looking... different. Word on the street, from a recent conference in Seoul, is that Apple might be shaking things up in a big way with their iPhone release schedule.
Instead of the usual fall frenzy, we might see a new "iPhone 18e" and a standard "iPhone 18" hitting shelves in the first half of 2027. I know, it's a bit of a curveball. What's even more interesting is that Apple might completely skip the "iPhone 19" moniker altogether. Remember when they jumped from iPhone 8 straight to iPhone X? It seems like they are planning something similar for the iPhone's 20th anniversary, launching what could be called the "iPhone 20" lineup.
If you're wondering, as I was, why the change? Apparently, Apple wants to spread out the hype and sales throughout the year, instead of having one massive peak during the holiday season. It makes sense, right? Why not keep the buzz going?
What about the iPhone 18?
Now, some whispers suggest that there won't even be a standard "iPhone 18" in the fall of 2026. Only the high-end models would be revealed at that time. And if this holds true, according to this forecast, Apple is anticipating a dip in demand due to this change, and could temporarily reduce iPhone panel orders as a result.
Following the first semester of 2027 releases, we could expect the iPhone 20 Pro, iPhone 20 Pro Max and a second generation of foldable iPhone to be released. Pretty exciting, if you ask me. I'm personally very curious about the foldable iPhone and how it will impact the market!
Of course, all of this is just speculation at this point. Apple hasn't confirmed anything officially. But it's fun to imagine what the future holds. One thing's for sure: the smartphone world is never boring!
