Apple Seeds Second Beta of iOS 18.6 and iPadOS 18.6 to Developers
Apple Releases Second Beta of iOS 18.6 for Developers
Apple has just rolled out the second beta versions of iOS 18.6 and iPadOS 18.6 to developers. It's been about two weeks since the first betas appeared, so I was eager to see what's new.
You can grab the update if you're a developer through the Settings app under General, then Software Update. As for what's actually in this update, that's the million-dollar question!
The initial beta didn't reveal any groundbreaking features. Although, there might be some tweaks to the App Store in the EU due to the Digital Markets Act (DMA).
I heard a rumor that Apple had plans to introduce Apple Intelligence to China with this update. Unfortunately, regulatory challenges seem to have put those plans on hold. It's a bummer, but these things happen.
My guess is that iOS 18.6 and iPadOS 18.6 are all about those under-the-hood improvements. Think bug fixes and smaller enhancements that make your device run smoother.
Apple is shifting its focus towards iOS 19 as well. If you're curious, iOS 19 is currently in beta testing and is expected to launch in September, coinciding with the release of the new iPhone 16 models.
