Apple Releases Fourth Public Betas of iOS 26.1, iPadOS 26.1, macOS Tahoe 26.1, and More
Apple has just released the fourth public beta versions of its upcoming operating systems: iOS 26.1, iPadOS 26.1, macOS Tahoe 26.1, tvOS 26.1, and watchOS 26.1. These updates are now available for anyone who's signed up as a public beta tester.
If you're part of the beta program, getting the new software is pretty straightforward. Just head over to the Software Update section in your device's Settings app, and you should see the update waiting for you. It's a good idea to back up your device before installing any beta software, just in case something goes wrong.
One of the biggest enhancements in iOS 26.1, iPadOS 26.1, and macOS Tahoe 26.1 is the expansion of Apple Intelligence to more languages. If you speak Danish, Dutch, Norwegian, Portuguese (Portugal), Swedish, Turkish, Chinese (Traditional), or Vietnamese, you'll now be able to take advantage of these features. Also, AirPods Live Translation will now work with Japanese, Korean, Italian, and both Mandarin Traditional and Simplified Chinese.
With this fourth beta, Apple included an option to reduce the transparency of Liquid Glass, and a toggle to disable opening the camera with a swipe from the Lock Screen. I've always found that swipe-to-camera gesture a bit too sensitive, so I'm glad they're giving us the option to turn it off. There are also some minor tweaks to apps like Photos, Music, Apple TV, and Phone.
