Android 16 QPR2 Update Extends Circle to Search to External Displays
I've always found Circle to Search incredibly handy on my phone. It's amazing how quickly you can Google anything on your screen, whether it's translating text or figuring out a tricky part of a game. However, it's been frustrating that this feature was limited to my phone's screen. If I connected my phone to an external monitor, Circle to Search wouldn't work there, which kind of defeated the purpose of having a bigger display to work with.
However, I recently discovered that the new Android 16 QPR2 update has finally addressed this issue. Now, Circle to Search works seamlessly on external displays as well. I think that's a huge step forward for productivity.
To use it, you simply click and hold the app drawer button (Action Key) or the Home button with your mouse. After that, you can tap, draw, or scribble over the content you want to search. The search results then pop up in a panel on the opposite side of the screen, with the usual options to Create, Save, Select text, or Share right below your selection. It's pretty intuitive, which is exactly what I want when I'm trying to get things done.
I haven't spotted many other big changes to Android's Desktop Mode in QPR2, but honestly, this Circle to Search update is significant enough on its own. It really enhances the experience of using a phone with an external monitor.
