Well, it seems like Google might have pulled the plug on the Android 16 QPR2 Beta 3 update. If you were planning to install it, you might have to wait a bit longer. Several Pixel owners are reporting that the update has vanished. This is happening because it seems it has a rather nasty bug causing the SystemUI to crash when desktop mode is enabled.

It all started yesterday when Google rolled out what was supposed to be the last beta for Android 16 QPR2, aimed at fixing some annoying issues like home screen shortcut glitches and problems with Google Play System updates. I was quite excited about it, hoping it would smooth things out on my Pixel.

However, now when people go to update their phones, they are getting a message saying that their phone is already up-to-date. What's the deal? Apparently, there's a bug that's causing some serious headaches. If you try to use desktop mode, the SystemUI crashes. Not good!

According to Mishaal Rahman, you have to disable "enable desktop experience features" in the developer options before updating to avoid any issues. It looks like the bootlooping issues are severe enough that Google may have paused the rollout. Personally, I think it's better to wait and get a stable version. I mean, who wants a phone that crashes every time you try to use desktop mode?

We don't know when QPR2 Beta 3 will be available again, I'm keeping an eye out for updates from Google. As soon as I hear anything, I'll make sure to let you know. For now, if you were planning on updating, just hang tight. It's always better to be safe than sorry, especially when it comes to beta software.
