Android 15 Update for Motorola Razr Plus 2024
Motorola has initiated a broad deployment of the Android 15 update for its Razr Plus 2024 model in the United States. Following a limited release last month, the update, weighing approximately 2.17GB, is now available to both unlocked and carrier-locked devices. This significant software upgrade brings a range of enhancements and new features to the foldable phone.
Enhanced Connectivity and Accessibility
Android 15 significantly improves connectivity options. Users can now manage Bluetooth features more extensively from the quick settings menu, including pairing new devices, switching between paired devices, monitoring battery levels, and adjusting sound settings. The update also introduces satellite messaging, enabling users to send SMS messages even when cellular network connectivity is unavailable. This functionality relies on satellite connection, though carrier support is a determining factor.
Accessibility has also been a focus. The update provides enhanced controls for hearing devices directly from the quick settings, including battery level monitoring and preset sound profile switching. Improvements for vision include refined font scaling and support for modern refreshable Braille displays.
Security and Performance Improvements
Security is strengthened through several key improvements. The update allows for the location of powered-off phones and connected accessories. Adaptive authentication enhances security by locking the screen after multiple failed login attempts. Furthermore, simplified authentication procedures, such as password access via facial recognition or fingerprint, are implemented for improved usability.
Beyond the core improvements, Android 15 includes several quality-of-life enhancements, such as larger photo picker thumbnails and new emoji stickers. The integration of Moto AI, exiting beta status with this update, offers personalized content and features like Ask Moto AI and AI Actions.
Users can check for the update by navigating to the Settings app, selecting "Software update," and tapping "Check for update." A notification will also appear once the update is ready for installation. The update brings the device’s security patch level to March 1, 2025.
